Rev Krystyn began her curacy with us earlier this month, following a placement with us a while ago. She writes:
Dear Friends,
I’m delighted to be joining you in September for the next stage of my curacy. It will be lovely to come back to the parish where I was on placement in 2023–24, to see some familiar faces again and to meet those of you I don’t yet know.
This September will be one of quite a few new beginnings in my life. From 2017 to 2025, I was the minister of three Methodist churches in south Manchester and, later, three Polish-speaking congregations in Manchester, Leeds and Bradford. Before coming to England, I worked in parish ministry in the Czech Republic, and also as an RE teacher, university chaplain and multilingual translator for international companies and publishing houses.
I have always enjoyed learning new things, which led me to study linguistics, international relations and theology at master’s level. I also spent two years studying for a PhD in theology in Canada, which I hope to continue here in England in the not-too-distant future.
When I’m not working, I enjoy walking and hiking, especially in Yorkshire and Scotland, growing herbs and vegetables in my garden, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and practising the languages I speak in various language-exchange groups. I’m also very fond of good coffee, so local recommendations will be very welcome!
I’m very much looking forward to becoming part of the life of St Margaret’s and St George’s, getting to know you better and finding out more about your local communities.
