St Margaret’s Voices

Formerly known as Maggie’s Music Makers, the time has come to rebrand and relaunch our parish choir, in a way that reflects the group’s evolution over the past nine years, and that readies the group for future development.

The existing name was perfect for the group when it was first formed, but it is time for the group to take itself as seriously as external organisations clearly do. Indeed, Rev Sue paved the way for this in her reflection in the BBC Daily Service, broadcast on 29 May. Have you heard those services? We recorded three services at St Margaret’s, which were broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra at 09:45am on May 25 (Bishop David), May 29 (Rev Sue) and June 1 (Rev Steve). You can listen again here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wzfs/episodes/player Soon afterwards we were invited to take part in the recording of a BBC Sunday Service at Oldham Parish Church, to be broadcast at 08:10am on Sunday 14 June – Music Sunday. Catch it live on Radio 4, or on BBC Sounds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/b006qnds

The parish choir rehearses in church on Wednesdays during term time, 5:50-6:30pm. You can hear examples of the music we sing on the website, or on our social media platforms.

If you’re interested in joining us, please speak with Carol or Tom. There is no audition process, nor is there an expectation that you read music. We sing hymns, learn anthems, and develop singing technique, all in a friendly and supportive environment. More details on the website here and here.
