By now all readers of this blog will be aware that our parish choir took part in the BBC’s recording of the Radio 4 Daily Service Carol Concert at Manchester Cathedral early in December 2025. It was a truly amazing event to be part of! This is what some of our singers said:
Christmas started yesterday for Maggie’s Music Makers when we took part in a carol service at Manchester Cathedral along with other choirs and music groups from across Greater Manchester, which was being recorded by the BBC as part of their Christmas schedule for radio. It was an honour and a privilege. The cathedral was packed to capacity so there was a really festive atmosphere. There were carols old and well known and others new and not familiar. It also included festive readings, reflections and congregational carols. The man from the BBC was obviously impressed, as he said we must do this again. I wanted to shout yes please I would love to (I’m sure others must have felt the same.) Many thanks to Carol for getting us involved with this project! – June
The BBC Daily Service Carol Concert, which was held in Manchester Cathedral for the first time, was a wonderful, shared experience. I really enjoyed performing with all the church choirs, young choristers, singers and musicians and was amazed at how well we all synchronised with just a few rehearsals. Thank you to Carol, Harry Mobbs, Andrew Earis and Maggie’s Music Makers. – Natalie
