The Feast of Epiphany

Good morning and welcome to our service of holy communion for Sunday 8 January, on which we celebrate Epiphany – the arrival of the Magi and presentation of their gifts.

We also welcome Fr Shaun who is presiding at our services today. Our ALM Carol will deliver the sermon and intercessions.

We begin with the hymn “We Three Kings of Orient Are”:

During this hymn the Magi were carried to the crib, added to the nativity scene, and blessed.

The service was livestreamed here: https://fb.watch/hWrBtCof40/ although we lost the signal towards the end of the service (just as communion was being distributed) and couldn’t re-establish a connection.

The readings are:

The intended anthem was “Song of the Wise Men”:

Due to illness amongst the music team we swapped it for “Wise Men, they came to look for wisdom”:

We finished with the Epiphany carol “As with gladness men of old”:

St Margaret’s Church Prestwich holds CCLI licences CCL 79250, MRL 775231 and 466111 for music streaming and One Licence M-40120 for music streaming.
