Foxhill House is near to Frodsham, in Cheshire. In September around 12 of us went for a few days of retreat led by Revs Sue, Christine and Krystyna. It was based around Catherine Fox’s Advent course, with sessions on:
- Living well
- Dying well
- Hell-bent on destruction
- Going to heaven?
As well as these guided discussion and activity sessions, there were plenty of opportunities for prayer and reflection, including morning prayer, night prayer, and a service of holy communion on the last morning. Prayers were said for loved-ones, represented on a white tree by blue ribbons. We even had an evening off, during which we watched the film “Pursuit of Happyness”.
If you’ve never experienced a Christian retreat before, I highly recommend a short trip to Foxhill. The single rooms are all compact and self-contained, the catering is excellent, and the staff are all incredibly helpful. Here’s what some of this year’s participants said:
Rev Christine: It was another lovely 3 days in beautiful surroundings made all the better by the good food, cleanliness of the accommodation and hospitality of the staff, plus the companionship of the participants. I would like to say thank you to everyone. Your participation made all the effort of organising the 3 days worthwhile.
Carol O: It was a lovely few days with fellowship and friendships renewed as well as new ones made. Very enjoyable as well as prayerful, a beautiful combination.
Louise: Really enjoyed Foxhill Retreat along with the friends some new ones too x Staff and accommodation very nice food good surroundings and walks amazing x
Margaret: Foxhill is a lovely place to relax, good food, good company & thought-provoking discussions. For more information, or to book for next time (21-23 April 2027), please speak to Rev Christine.
