January letter from our Primary School

St Margaret’s CE update… Happy New Year to all of the St Margaret’s parishioners.

School enjoyed a lovely Christmas Carol Service at St Margaret’s church on Monday 12th December, the first since the pandemic. It was good to so see some of you joining us on the day to celebrate alongside us. Children sang with enthusiasm and happiness and did really well learning the songs, through the expertise of Carol Porter, who continues to support us superbly with our singing development at school. It was the first public performance for our newly formed school choir (Years 3 and 4) led by Carol Porter and Mrs Hainsworth. The readings in the service were by our Ethos team, Head Boy and Head Girl and a few other children from Years 4, 5 and 6, who wanted to read. It was a lovely service brining all of the community together.

Children in Years 2, 1 and Reception were very busy in the last couple of weeks of term performing their ‘Wriggly Nativity.’ It was two sell out performances at Parrenthorn High school and parents left having watched an enthusiastic, entertaining and thoroughly wonderful performance. It was great to see such confidence on stage at a young age.

Our Values are now underpinned by scriptures, which I would like to share with you:

RESPECT “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31

HAPPINESS “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live” Ecclesiastes 3:12

FRIENDSHIP “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

RESILIENCE “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” 2 Timothy 1:7

TRUST “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

FORGIVENESS “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37

LOVE “Above all, love each other deeply” 1 Peter 4:8

Finally, I hope you all had a peaceful and happy Christmas and have begun 2023 in good spirits. Keep safe and take care of yourselves and your families.
