There is increasingly visible confusion from commercial enterprises keen to maximise their festive income as to when the 12 Days of Christmas start. Well, it’s today! Happy Christmas! December 1-24 has been Advent, a time of contemplative preparation and waiting. The festival of Christmas begins today, and runs for twelve days until Epiphany, continuing after that until Candlemas at the beginning of February.
We mark this 1st Day of Christmas musically with our choir singing “O Come All Ye Faithful” – including the special verse reserved just for Christmas Day. After that, Rev Sue reads for us “Christmas Magic” by Jan Berry, and then the choir sings for us about a gift given on the first day of Christmas.
