June letter from St Margaret’s School

An update from St Margaret’s CE…

School hopes all St Margaret’s parishioners are safe, well and flourishing. School’s scooter and bike racks have been extremely popular and utilised. We have needed to order more! This is certainly promoting more of a healthy lifestyle for our children and in addition it is helping the environment reducing the number of children who travel to school in cars.

Our marvellous and supportive PTA, have purchased Perspex to revitalise the appearance of our reflection hut. Before the summer fair it will be painted sage. All children will be able to use this, supporting their wellbeing and having their own quiet and reflective time. I will send photos when this has been completed – just need some dry weather!  PTA have been very busy, assisting with the first phase of developing our outdoor area; creating a quiet reading or socialising area. The floor will be a wood chipped and it will be sheltered from the rain.

Year 6 have completed their SATs and both children and the staff are relieved that they are now over! They have worked incredibly hard and all children should be proud of their work and dedication, not only this year but through all their time at St Margaret’s. They are now working on transition booklets in preparation for their next journey into secondary school. Just as Year 6 have finished, Year 2 have begun sitting their SAT tests and will be finished by the end of next week.

As part of mental health awareness week we participated in ‘Wear it Green Day’ and raised £100 for the Mental Health Foundation. In March, Mrs Hainsworth, along with our school council arranged a ‘cake for break’ sale to raise funds for the Turkey and Syrian earthquake survivors. School raised £520 for such a wonderful cause. These are just a couple of examples where our children have shown marvellous courageous advocacy.

We hope you are looking forward to summer as much as school is, with the vibrant and beautiful colours of summer flourishing and seeing everyone ‘Live Life in all its fullness.’

Finally, keep safe and take care of yourselves and your families. I would like to leave you with a scripture from the bible which resonates with so many of our school community ‘Above all love each other deeply.’ (1 Peter 4:8)
