At 10.00am on Thursday 14 July, children. staff and governors from St Margaret’s CE Primary School met with Rev Deborah’s sister as well as clergy, wardens and members of the congregation at St George’s church Simister to plant a cherry tree there in memory of Rev Deborah.
Each of the nine children helped to plant and water the tree, guided by our gardener. Each child was also given a seed card to tear up and plant with the tree, and another to take home and plant in Rev Deborah’s memory.
Cherry trees were chosen by the children of St Margaret’s school as it will blossom each year at about the time of Rev Deborah’s birthday, and the flowers will be in her favourite colour, pink.
