January letter from our Primary School

School enjoyed a lovely Christmas Carol Service at St Margaret’s church on Monday 12th December, the first since the pandemic. It was good to so see some of you joining us on the day to celebrate alongside us. Children sang with enthusiasm and happiness and did really well learning the songs, through the expertise of Carol Porter, who continues to support us superbly with our singing development at school … More January letter from our Primary School

The History of St Margaret’s

In the past few months, I have been asked about various aspects of St Margaret’s Church. St Margaret’s was built in the mid-1800s as an extra Church in Prestwich to help ease the rapid growth of the population in the east of Prestwich. The rest was given by the Church of England and many generous public donations … More The History of St Margaret’s

Myn Lyking

We also welcome Fr Shaun who is presiding at our services today. Our ALM Carol will deliver the sermon and intercessions.
We begin with the hymn “We Three Kings of Orient Are” … More The Feast of Epiphany

What’s in a name?

What’s in a name? Some people like the names they have been given, some don’t. Sometimes names are given to babies to remind us of people that we love, or because we like the meaning. Grace, for example, can evoke either graceful movement, or the grace of God in all its generosity. Faith speaks for itself … More What’s in a name?

Rev Sue’s January Letter to the Parish

Blue Monday, this year January 16th, is officially the most depressing day of the year. It has been carefully calculated using a scientific formula based on the weather, credit card bills coming in, the time since New Year’s resolutions have failed and low motivation levels. It is a very complex and impressive looking formula. And is complete rubbish. There is no scientific backing whatsoever – it was part of an advertising campaign by Sky Travel … More Rev Sue’s January Letter to the Parish
